“I definitely prefer being on the other side of the camera.”
David Henry is an experienced photographer and photojournalist who loves being behind the camera, playing the drums, scuba diving and watching horror movies (just not all at the same time.)
He hates moths (sad but true).
David loves being organised and punctual, meeting new people and impromptu chats on location. He’s nattered with Nicola Forrest about shoes, chit-chatted with Mark McGowan about UK soccer, pondered the merits of Jamaican rum with Justin Langer, talked socks with Scott Morrison and chin-wagged with Kerry Harmanis about watch collecting.
David loves telling stories through imagery, exceeding expectations and making people feel relaxed in front of the camera. Becoming a new dad in 2022 is yet another reason this versatile shutterbug loves capturing the images that tell our stories.
After photographing many, many individuals, teams, groups and couples – including more than 100 lovebirds on their wedding day – it’s fair to say David’s skills are especially well honed. And he’s got a great eye for props, backdrops, scenery and settings.
It’s now getting on for 10 years since David left the bright lights of Manchester, England, for the bright, sunny skies of Perth, Australia, where he met his now wife Caroline and he hasn’t looked back.
“A photograph is a unique slice of time captured forever; a beautiful thing to cherish. It’s why I’ve been passionate about photography for so long. I love the creativity, the fun, the honesty and the attention to detail that all come with the craft.
“I never forget the significance of your memories and am always honoured to be part of the experience. I hope you can see and feel that passion in my work today”
